lenny mclean, born in hoxton. known as 'the guv'nor'.
a respected and feared unlicensed boxer and an enforcer in london's criminal underworld in the 1960's-1980's.
i first came across lenny mclean in the film 'lock, stock and two smoking barrels'. he played a character called barry the baptist. a hard man that no one dared to mess with. wearing big rings and what i would describe as a del-boy coat.
lenny was an individual that isn't widely known but was well connected in the london criminal world, allegedly with the likes of the kray twins and charles bronson - i bet he had some interesting stories.
lenny mclean deserves a chapter in his own right.
